The Committee of Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the European Union (CROCEU)[1] condemns the violent attacks that took place during the morning of the 22 March 2016 in Belgium-Brussels.
We are praying for all those who have lost their lives and we convey our deepest condolences to their families. We also express our deepest compassion for all those who are suffering as a consequence of these tragic events. As European Orthodox Christians we know that hatred, misery, pain and violence flourish in society whenever love for God and our neighbor is missing.
European Union’s states and their citizens should by all ways embrace an attitude of compassion and solidarity, thus building a climate of peace and mutual trust within our societies.
